Year 4

Grade 4 Term 1 Curriculum Overview

Melbourne Walks and Eureka Skydeck
Monday March 25

Melbourne excursion to explore what makes Melbourne such a liveable city. This will be hosted by Melbourne Walks who will take students on a tour of the city, beginning at Federation Square followed by a walk around Melbourne's popular streets exploring buildings, laneways and creative spaces of the CBD. The students will then enquire into aspects such as infrastructure, environmental quality, safety and stability, health care and education, climate, cultural activities and recreational facilities.

Students can use this immersion encounter to compare  the liveability of other places. To understand that a city is a product of real people, the students will learn about historic ‘identities’, people who have been influential in the changing of Melbourne’s social and physical landscapes.

Another exciting element to our excursion is a trip up to the Eureka Sky-deck to capture a bird's-eye view of Melbourne. This will give the students an excellent opportunity to view the layout of Melbourne from up high and to reinforce elements learned from the walk.
