Medical Conditions

In order for our school to responsibly care for your child’s medical needs whilst at school it is imperative that all medical information is on our school records and up to date. We ask that any changes to medical conditions be communicated to the office.

Anaphylaxis, Allergies, Diabetes, Epilepsy

All Action Plans must be updated ANNUALLY or earlier if the student’s medical condition or medication changes.  If your child has a current Anaphylaxis, Allergy, Diabetes, Epilepsy Action Plan, we require these to be updated and signed off by a doctor. 2016 Anaphylaxis and Allergy Plans have been sent home to families today. Please have a new plan completed as soon as possible but no later than the end of March.

Action Plans will be returned to families if they are not completed by a doctor.

Asthma

Asthma is a condition that can be serious and may require emergency treatment while at school. It is important therefore, to have up to date information about the management of your child’s asthma.

Letters and 2016 Asthma Action Plans have been sent out to all families this week who have students identified with Asthma.  Asthma Action Plans  must be completed and signed by a qualified practising Medical Practitioner.

If your child suffers with any degree of asthma – mild, severe, occasional and you have not indicated this on our school records, could you please see the office to update your records and complete an Asthma Action Plan.

We require the DET (Asthma Australia) coloured form be completed, not a black and white version.

Asthma Action Plans are required to be updated ANNUALLY or earlier if the student’s asthma or medications change. Action Plans will be returned to families if they are not completed by a doctor.

If there is no Asthma Action Plan provided by you, school staff will follow the emergency treatment for an asthma attack.

School staff also reserve the right to call an ambulance if deemed necessary. Please ensure your child is covered by ambulance cover if you do not have a health care card as this could be a costly expense.
